Craving a contemporary yet cosy retreat this Westleigh couple engaged RSd to update their Lounge Room. We retained many existing elements including the wall colour, carpet, lamps, beloved artwork, armchair and antique side table; and swopped out boxy, heavy pieces for more elegant and elongated shapes. 

 

The mismatched sofas help to create an informal vibe; and the round marble table tops and half-moon/hoop legs balance out the rectilinear components in the room and create a better sense of spaciousness. Natural marble pattern and a neutral beige/taupe base palette keep the space restful and calm. Added layers of tactile texture in the rug, curtains, cushions, throws and differing sofa fabrics help exude a feeling of cosiness. 

 

Inspired by the owners’ oil painting we added natural colour accents of terracotta, green and aqua to lift the palette and tie everything together; the result, a harmonious and elegant, contemporary lounge room.
